Traditionally, the ranking is based on an estimate of the approximate income that the educational institutions in question can receive in the 2018/19 academic year.
According to the education departments, there are 71 non – government schools in the two megacities (60 in the previous academic year). The cost of education in institutions included in the top 20 ranges from 800 thousand to 8.65 million tenge per year per student.
The approximate income that a school could receive in the current academic year was calculated based on the average cost of tuition per month (as a rule, different amounts are paid for students at different levels – primary, secondary, and final grades) and the number of students. Information about the number of students was obtained from official sources - from the departments of education of Nur-Sultan and Almaty. Data on the cost of education-from the schools themselves. When calculating the income of educational institutions, such nuances as a one-time entrance fee, the cost of transportation, forms, classes in clubs and sections, as well as other variables were not considered.
